The Role of Women in Making Inca Territorial Spaces

The Inca Empire, with its striking architecture, has captivated visitors to the Andes for centuries. The Inca’s vast built environment stretches across the western rim of South America and its creation has been credited to a series of brilliant men. In this presentation, Nair shines the light on the diverse women who shaped and gave meaning to a wide range of impressive Inca spaces. In doing so, she reveals how assumptions about gender have radically and erroneously rewritten the history of the Andes.
