Marianne is entering her fourth-year in International Development Studies at UCLA as a “non-traditional” student. A Los Angeles native, she spent her childhood in France and most of her adult life in various parts of the world. In 2009, she returned from the Middle East, where she had lived and worked for fifteen years, ten for NGOs within the region and five as the governess for the Royal Family of Jordan. Working with non-profits, she focused her efforts on humanitarian assistance, educational development and the empowerment of women. Marianne plans to pursue a graduate degree in a related field and from there continue to work towards sustainability in the developing world, women’s empowerment and on solutions to the global issues of poverty, education and security.
