Carmel Lev is a fourth-year Global Studies and World Arts & Culture double major from Saratoga, California. At the Burkle Center, she is a general intern as of now, but will eventually work more directly in facilitating events and conducting research. Carmel is currently one of the Education Directors for the Student Committee for the Arts at UCLA, as well as a research assistant for Professor Steven Spiegel at the Center for Middle East Development. Academically, Carmel is passionate about human rights issues and the Middle East, and has interned with Human Rights Watch and the Foundation for Middle East Peace in Washington, D.C. in the past. She hopes to volunteer abroad at a human rights non-profit upon graduating, before potentially getting a joint Masters of International Affairs/JD with a focus in Human Rights Law. As hobbies, Carmel has been dancing Flamenco for the past 11 years of her life, in addition to traveling, baking, and going to art museums.
