Bojan Petrovic lectures in the International Studies Program at the University of California Irvine. His areas of research and teaching expertise stretch over the disciplinary boundaries of international relations and comparative politics and include ethnic, communal, and religious intra-state conflicts, state- and nation-building, with a geographic focus on the Middle East and Central Asia. His current research interests are in Islam and politics and the general role that religion plays in international relations. He has recently published two books: Afghanistan: The Political History of a Buffer State (2010) and Islam and Temporal Power (2012). He has also taught at the University of California Los Angeles, Chapman University, Korea University (Seoul), and Ewha Women’s University (Seoul).
