The Institute will bring together language scientists and language educators who will examine these issues from the standpoint of research, language planning, and linguistic training.
UCLA Professor Olga Kagan, National Heritage Language Resource Center director, received a lifetime achievement award at the 130th annual Modern Language Association (MLA) convention in January 2015.
In recognition of Dr. Fishman’s foundational work in the field of heritage language studies, NHLRC established the Joshua Fishman Award for Outstanding Contributions and Leadership in the Heritage Language Field in 2010.
