James Ding

Mr. James Media Ding is a Managing Director at GSR Ventures Management Co. Ltd. He is a Founder of e-China Alliances. Mr. Ding focuses on investments in internet, wireless, and new media. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Co-Founder, the Chief Executive Officer and President at Asiainfo Holdings Inc. from May 1999 to April 1, 2003, where he guided the company to the first IPO on NASDAQ by a Chinese technology company. Mr. Ding was also AsiaInfo's senior vice president for business development and chief technology officer from 1997 to 1999. Previously, he was a Senior Vice President and a Chief Technology Officer of Asiainfo Holdings Inc. from 1993 to 1997. Mr. Ding was also an Advisor of Accelergy Corporation. He has been a Chairman of the Board of AsiaInfo Holdings, Inc. since April 2003 and Director since 1993. Mr. Ding has also been an Independent Board Member of Baidu.com, Inc. since 2005.

Mr. Ding graduated from the executive program at Haas Business School, University of California in Berkeley and holds an M.S. in Information Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a B.S. in Chemistry from the Peking University.
