Gideon Aran is a professor in the department of sociology & anthropology of The Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He is currently a visiting professor at UC Berkeley. Aran’s main topics of academic interest are: Radical Religion; Religious violence in comparative perspective; Terror; Past and present manifestations of extremist Judaism; Israeli culture and political culture. His most recent publications concern Gush Emunim (Bloc of the Faithful) and the Jewish Underground; The Other Side of Palestinian Suicide Bombing; Priesthood and Zealotry in ancient and contemporary Israel.
