The CMED Roundtable Series will gather experts weekly to assess the Hamas attack and its impact on the region to make recommendations for the future. In Discussion 2, CMED Deputy Director Mani Jad meets with Mohammed Daraghmeh, bureau chief of Asharq News in Palestine, and Smadar Perry, Middle East senior editor at Yediot Aharonot in Israel. Discussion will be followed by audience Q&A.


MEET OUR GUESTS

Mr. Mohammed Daraghmeh is the bureau chief of Asharq News in Palestine. He has been covering the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and Palestinian politics in the West Bank and Gaza for 30 years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ms. Smadar Perry is the Middle East senior editor at Yediot Aharonot and the presenter of a weekly radio program on the Middle East. She studied the modern history of the Middle East at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

 

 

 

 

 

MEET OUR HOST

Ms. Mani A. Jad began her role in the International Institute in 2002, when she started working with Professor Spiegel as a conference coordinator in the Burkle Center for International Relations. In 2005, Professor Spiegel and Ms. Jad created the UCLA Center for Middle East Development. Over the years, Ms. Jad’s role in the Center evolved from conference coordinator to chief administrative and financial officer. Her responsibilities include: overseeing the different aspects of CMED's conferences, maintaining the Center’s budget, acting as the point of contact for donors and sponsors, liaising with the UCLA community, and stepping in for the director when he is not available. Ms. Mani Jad graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in psychology. She speaks fluent Arabic.
