How did the coursework and research you did while a student at UCLA prepare you for an international career?
The diverse environment at UCLA allowed me to interact with people from all sorts of cultural and professional backgrounds. This has been very useful in my career as a financial consultant where each Company/ Situation is unique. In my line of work, having a real connection with management is key to understand the intricacies of each project to work towards a long-term solution for our clients.
Can you speak a little bit about your career and how it has progressed since graduating from UCLA?
I graduated in 2008 in the middle of the financial crisis and worked for a year in LA at a Family Office. In 2009 I got offered a position at Deloitte in Mexico City as part of their Corporate Finance team where I worked until 2012 when I took a position as a Director at FTI Consulting. Since then, I have been promoted to Sr Director and to Managing Director. My work is mostly related to Financial Restructurings in companies from all sorts of industries from auto parts to construction and cinema chains.
