Please join Dr. SaKong Il as he shares his thoughts, opinions and insights on the global economy, governance and the G20, and Asia's role.

Dr. SaKong Il chaired, 2009-2011, the Presidential Committee for the G20 Summit in the Office of the President and currently chairs the Korea International Trade Association (KITA). He served in the Office of the President as Special Economic Adviser to the President from March 2008 to April 2009 and also chaired the Presidential Council on National Competitiveness during this same time period.

Dr. SaKong previously served in the government of the Republic of Korea in a variety of positions including Minister of Finance (1987-88) and Senior Secretary to the President for Economic Affairs (1983-87). During his tenure at these key posts in the Korean government, Dr. SaKong played the leading role in framing and implementing Korea's most successful development strategy and economic policies of the 1980s.

Dr. SaKong has had a wide range of experience in international affairs and for ten years served as s Special Consultant to the International Monetary Fund. He has written and edited many books and articles addressing the Korean economy, major issues in economic growth and development, international finance and trade policy issues. Dr. SaKong graduated from Seoul National University ('64) and received his MBA ('66) and PhD ('69) from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
