David Andrews is Professor of International Relations, Director of the European Union Center of California, and Gabrielle Marie-Louise Jungels-Winkler Chair in Contemporary European Studies at Scripps College. Professor Andrews’ research concerns Atlantic political, security, and economic relations; economic statecraft and international economic governance; and European integration, especially monetary integration. He is the author of Orderly Change: International Monetary Relations since Bretton Woods (Cornell University Press, 2008), International Monetary Power (Cornell University Press, 2006), The Alliance under Stress: Atlantic Relations after Iraq (Cambridge University Press, 2005), and Governing the World’s Money (Cornell University Press, 2002). His current book project Geopolitical Foundations of Monetary Union, 1945-1969 examines the complex ambitions that led European governments to commit to establishing a single currency.
