The documentary Sons of João, The Admirable New Baiano World, examines the Brazilian Popular Music scene (MPB) during the '60s and '70s through the revolutionary musical group Os Novos Baianos. The film tells the story of Os Novos Baianos from their initial beginnings in Bahia to the fame they reached in the early 70’s. In particular, the film reveals the influence of Bossa Nova pioneer João Gilberto on the group's musical direction and the community lifestyle they adopted. The film features unique and rare archival materials of the best MPB music and cameos from Tom Ze, Rogério Duarte, Orlando Senna, Moraes Moreira, Pepeu Gomes, among others.
