A presentation about the Latin American Film Festival in Havana

Rául Fernández and Sarah Chenault are two of the several members of UC-Cuba visiting Havana in December 2010 and attending the Latin American Film Festival in Havana. They will talk about the most interesting films showed during the festival, show some clips, and entertain questions. The 32 Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano was held in Havana in December 2-12, 2010. The Festival promotes and awards those works whose significance and artistic values contribute to enrich and reaffirm the Latin American and Caribbean cultural identity. The Festival sets up an annual competition in Fiction, Documentary and Animation, Opera Prima, Unproduced Script and Poster. Besides that, the program includes a showcase of contemporary world cinema, the Industry Sector initiatives as well as meetings and seminars on issues of cultural interest, especially cinema. Among the movies competing in this 32nd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, Cuba presented among others: Fernando Perez’s José Martí: el ojo del canario; Casa Vieja, by Lester Hamlet; Larga Distancia, by Esteban Insausti; and Boleto al Paraíso, by Gerardo Chijona.
