Maya Zack
Artist and Film-Maker

Maya Zack is an artist in the fields of video, sculpture, installation and drawing. She is an honors graduate of The Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Fine Art Department, Jerusalem (B.F.A), magna cum laude (2000). Maya also studied at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee in a student exchange program and is currently completing an MA thesis at the Interdisciplinary Arts Program of Tel Aviv University.

Maya Zack has exhibited her works in various galleries, museums and festivals in Israel and world wide such as The Jewish Museum in New York, California Center for the Arts Escondido, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Israel Museum in Jerusalem, Haifa Museum of Art, Bialik House Museum Tel Aviv, Artneuland Galerie Berlin, Noga Gallery of Art Tel Aviv, Rosenfeld Gallery Tel Aviv, Hanburg Short Film Festival, Invideo Milan, Winterthur Short Film Festival , Pessaro Film Festival, Italy, Experimental Film and Video Festival, Egilsstaðir, Iceland, Festival of Independent Cinematography “KinoLev", Trunk, The Nordic Video-Art Festival, Östersund, Sweden to name a few.

Zack has won artist grants and awards such as Celeste Kunstpreis, Berlin 2008; Israel Lottery Council For The Arts 2008; special prize for “Ideas Museum,” International Festival of Independent Cinematography “KinoLev,” in Lviv, Ukraine, in 2008; Best Foreign Film Award, Szemletek Visionaudial Film Festival, Pecs, Hungary, 2008; The Young Artist Award, Israeli Ministry of Education and Culture, 2005; and Excellence Award, Bezalel Academy of Art and Design Fine Arts Department, Jerusalem, 2000.

The residency of Maya Zack in Los Angeles in November 2010 is a collaboration between the Center for Jewish Culture and Creativity (CJCC) and The Jewish Artists Initiative of Southern California (JAI). This artist exchange is made possible with the generous support of the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Jewish Federation’s NextGen Initiative, the Israeli Consulate, and the Jewish Federation's Los Angeles/Tel Aviv Partnership.
