Jewish Urban History in the Americas: A Comparative Look at Jewish Buenos Aires and Jewish Los Angeles

Symposium featuring the work of junior scholars working at the exciting borders of Jewish cultural and urban history in the Americas.

Monday, February 09, 2009
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
306 Royce Hall
Los Angeles, CA 90095

This symposium will feature the work of junior scholars working at the exciting borders of Jewish cultural and urban history in the Americas. It will focus on two relatively coterminous Jewish communities —Buenos Aires and Los Angeles—whose histories are being explored today in careful detail by researchers. Drawing on the UCLA Center for Jewish Studies' commitment to exploring the Jewish experience at local and global levels, this symposium will feature a conversation across geographic, cultural, and methodological boundaries.
