Emilio Bejel is a Cuban poet, critic and professor living in the United States. He is a Distinguished Professor of Spanish American Studies and Critical Thinking at the University of California, Davis. Some of his books include Escribir en Cuba; Literatura de nuestra América; José Lezama Lima, Poet of the Image; and Gay Cuban Nation. Some of his books of poetry are: Casas deshabitadas y El libro regalado. Emilio Bejel has also published an autobiographical novel: The Write Way Home: A Cuban-American Story (El horizonte de mi piel, Spanish version). He will be presenting material from his new book project on the iconography of José Martí in Cuban culture and society.
