Wildflowers on the Battlefield
들국화는 피었는데
(1974) Directed by Lee Man-hee

Director Lee Man-hee frequently clashed with Korean censors over his humanist portrayals of men at war. Wildflowers on the Battlefield fascinates, however, more for the ways it reflects the party line of the era. An epic paean to Korean nationalism, the film palys like a Korean Pearl Harbor as it tracks half a dozen characters through the chaotic opening days of the Korean War.

Screenwriter: Seon Woo-hui.
Cast: Shin Seong-il, Kim Jeong-hun, Lee Yeong-ok.
Presented in Korean dialogue with English subtitles. 35mm, 102 min.
