In his talk, Professor Luo Gang which will discuss the question of the "digital divide" in China and how differential access to the internet there affects the discourse on the net.

Luo Gang teaches in the Chinese Department at East China Normal University in Shanghai and is a member of the Research Units on Modern Chinese Thought and Culture and Modern Chinese Literature at that institution, as well as a member of the Insitute on Contemporary Chinese Cultural Studies at Shanghai University.  His latest books are Methods of Imagining the City (2006) and The Cultural Imagination in a Time of Crisis.
