Opening Reception: Tuesday, October 8, 3:00 pm -5:00 pm, Powell Library Rotunda. Participating speakers: Michal Sedlacek, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles; Ivan Passer, Czech New Wave director and screenwriter; Susan Kresin, Lecturer of Czech and Russian, UCLA, Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures.

In celebration of Václav Havel’s extraordinary work and legacy as a writer, dissident, and political leader, the exhibit will feature a collection of visual materials illustrating his contributions to arts and culture, politics and democracy, human rights and civil society.

This event is part of the Mutual Inspirations Festival, an annual initiative of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington, D.C., featuring extraordinary Czech personalities whose work has greatly influenced and inspired others.
