Treasures of the UCLA Library: Near Eastern Manuscripts

While in graduate school at UCLA and working in the Center for Primary Research and Training, Ali Anooshahr brought paleographic training and language proficiency in Persian, Arabic, and Ottoman Turkish to the task of describing and processing the UCLA Library's collection of Near Eastern Manuscripts. He is currently Assistant Professor of History at UC Davis.

The Summer High School Language Program is geared toward students who speak one of the offered languages at home and want to improve their writing and reading skills.

2012 Heritage Language Teacher Workshop

The 2012 Heritage Language Teacher Workshop is designed to help language teachers face the challenge of teaching heritage language students. It will prepare them to understand the differences between teaching L2 and HL learners, the issues involved in heritage language teaching, and how to address them.

Middle East Outreach Council (MEOC)

MEOC is a national network of educators dedicated to disseminating apolitical and nonpartisan information, resources and activities furthering understanding about the Middle East.

The Center's outreach activities in the area of K-12 education strive to create dynamic and diverse professional development opportunities for Los Angeles-based school teachers.
